I'd like to express special thanks to Harriet F. Fisher, the author of Willoughby Lake Legends and Legacies, on which this site is heavily based. Mrs. Fisher writes of her book that "It does not pretend to be documented history. Most of it may be true, some of it may be partly true, and the rest perhaps is only legend. However, the stories and the legends of Willoughby Lake have become its legacies."
